Video: Four Gauges on One Robot for Automated Gauging

Q-Span Gauging Systems automate dimensional gauging for higher throughput on time-consuming inspection processes, improving process control and minimizing QC costs. They incorporate a collaborative robot, New Scale’s smart gripper/calipers, and any number of standard gauges to automate your existing manual gauging methods.

This demonstration shows a Q-Span System with four gauges:

1.   A thread gauge for pass/fail thread verification (read the new product release for details)
2.   A bore gauge to measure inner diameter
3.   A drop gauge to measure height
4.   A robotic caliper to measure width

The cobot arm also has electrical and pneumatic grippers for part handling. These grippers pick parts, load them in fixtures for gauging, and sort or place them after measuring.

The Q-Span Gauging System can make decisions in real time based on any measurement, to sort or reject parts. All data is recorded to a PC for use with SPC or QMS software.​
