Calibration Testing and Services

Setting Zero-Reference Offsets

Q-Span Workstations use calibrated NSR Gripper/Calipers to automate manual dimensional metrology. We recommend using NIST traceable artifacts to set zero-reference offsets for each gripper/caliper on a day-to-day basis. This process is similar to zeroing a standard digital caliper.

Factory Calibration and Certification

We recommend a complete recertification of the NSR Gripper/Calipers at least once per year, or sooner, depending on the customer’s use case and application. We offer a factory calibration testing for this recertification.

Calibration testing performed by New Scale Robotics includes an automated testing procedure using NIST traceable artifacts. These  gage blocks and ring gages are automatically picked and placed by a Universal Robot collaborative robot with the NSR-PG-10-20-URe Gripper/Caliper. Error offsets in the gripper/calipers’ absolute encoder measurements are used to calibrate each unit to reach our repeatability targets.

Please contact us for more information, including pricing and recommended recertification frequency based on your application and duty cycle.
