You need a precision gripper if you wish to use collaborative robots for small part manipulation, intricate assembly work, or automated measurement inspection. The precision gripper must have:

  • small size
  • low mass
  • high measurement precision

The NSR-PG-10-20-URe Precision Parallel Gripper has the lowest mass and highest measurement precision of any “plug-and-produce” gripper for Universal Robots collaborative robots.

The NSR-PG-10-20-URe has a mass of only 205 grams. It is ideal for the smallest cobots, such as the UR3e. Compared to robot grippers from Robotiq, OnRobot, Zimmer, Dahl, Schunk and Weiss, the NSR-PG precision gripper represents the smallest percentage of robot capacity. This increases robot precision and allows you to work with multiple grippers on one robot arm.

The NSR-PG-10-20-URe has the highest measurement precision, at  2.5 micrometers (0.1 inch/1000). This enables you to use the gripper as a caliper for automated gauging, in-process inspection and real-time process monitoring.

This smart gripper has 80 times better precision than “precision grippers” from Robotiq, and 20 to 40 times better precision than similar grippers from OnRobot and Zimmer. Cobot grippers from Dahl, Schunk, and Weiss have only end-point sensors or no sensors, and are not suitable for measurement applications.

Universal Robots on the NSR-PG precision gripper:  “I love this gripper and that it’s capable of doing extremely precise grips…you can use it as a contact measurement, for a decision if it’s a few thou difference – to make a decision to do something differently with the product. You can’t do that with any other type of gripper that UR works with.”
