Universal Robots says it’s no surprise that the electronics industry has enthusiastically embraced collaborative robots, citing concurrent incidence of soaring demand for electronics products, falling prices, skilled labor shortages, and pandemic-related social distancing and travel restrictions.

“Manufacturers are tasked with adapting to these rapidly changing circumstances as painlessly as possible and without suffering drops in productivity and quality,” the article explains.

It’s also no surprise that UR’s flexible automation platform automation platform is leading in the charge to automation in electronics manufacturing. UR cobots take on a virtually limitless set of tasks from cutting and soldering to PCB handling, touchscreen testing, parts insertion, dispensing and inspection.

UR+ Application Kits make cobot deployment even easier

A key part of that is UR+ Application Kits designed to handle specific tasks.  These kits facilitate rapid deployment of UR cobots by removing the need to identify and choose grippers, programs and accessories. Instead, UR partners put together the complete package which is then certified by Universal Robots for inclusion in the UR+ program.

Kits exist for numerous applications that are critical to electronics manufacturers. UR cites New Scale Robotics’ Q-Span® Workstation Kit as a prime example.

“UR+ provides manufacturers with Application Kits tailored to specific tasks, such as the Q-Span Workstation Kit, a system specially designed for inspection of small parts,” UR explains.
