Configuration, Set Up, and Factory Calibration Services
Q-Span Workstation Configuration and Set Up
The Q-Span Workstation Kit is a do-it-yourself (DIY) quality inspection tool. It includes everything you need to quickly and easily set up the workstation and begin measuring your first part, using the example hardware and software in the kit. The collaborative robot is as easy to use as a smart phone – no robotics experience necessary!
Should you prefer more assistance with the initial setup, we’re here for you. We offer:
Gage R&R assessment and system correlation studies
Our applications engineers can assess your parts and help with a system correlation study.
We can help you design and build part trays and metrology fingers specific to the parts and dimensions you need to measure.
We will create the programs or “recipes” for your Q-Span Workstation to pick, measure and place your specific parts according to your metrology processes.
Q-Span Workstations use calibrated NSR Gripper/Calipers to automate manual dimensional metrology. We recommend using NIST traceable artifacts to set zero-reference offsets for each gripper/caliper on a day-to-day basis. This process is similar to zeroing a standard digital caliper.
We recommend a complete a recertification of the NSR Gripper/Calipers at least once per year, or sooner, depending on the customer’s use case and application. We offer a factory calibration testing for this recertification.
Calibration testing performed by New Scale Robotics includes an automated testing procedure using NIST traceable artifacts. These gage blocks and ring gages are automatically picked and placed by a Universal Robot collaborative robot with the NSR-PG-10-20-URe Gripper/Caliper. Error offsets in the gripper/calipers’ absolute encoder measurements are used to calibrate each unit to reach our repeatability targets.
Please contact us for more information, including pricing and recommended recertification frequency based on your application and duty cycle.
